Maybe note any areas where the food would be much easier or harder to produce in a modern kitchen (& any areas where contemporary kit changes flavour/texture of end product). Eg For medieval receipts, iron round bottom pot means pottage less prone to burning with less stirring; toast is different.

Excellent activity. It will require a good bit of research into what utensils are used, the processing of ingredients from seed to the table.

I enjoy using antique woodworking tools. It requires a great deal of skill for an acceptable result.

Great idea! I have family cookbooks that are tucked away that look like this, you inspired me. But...... don't use grandma's cookbook for canning recipes. We have evolved to safer canning procedures.

A former colleague in my days at the Wellcome had a thought to do this, and produce promotional cards of recipes from the historical ms household volumes there, but as I recall early experiments suggested this would require more time and a more elaborate test-kitchen than feasibly available.
