It's not uncommon for IRL theatre either, dress/stage rehearsals often take a lot longer than the actual show since you might have to run a scene multiple times to get it right. There's times when I've spent a whole day at a stage rehearsal.

he is the news anchor in the rehearsal as well. Fun fact - due to Gmod limitations the news studio is a box on top of Walter’s house. his voice is not coming through the TV he is literally just on the roof
