PARIS — The NBA is changing the shape of the shot clock. The NBA, WNBA, and G League will start using the new one — the circle one — starting next season.

The people upset by this are clearly far too sophisticated for normal people, like you and me, to understand. They know basketball only has rectangular clocks, not these silly round ones.
As someone who doesn't even watch basketball, it's absolutely hilarious seeing grown ass men in the comments being genuinely upset about.. The shape of a clock.
Look how much thicker the frame of the new shotclock is than the old one.
It may not be massive issue for fans who pay a shed load to go and see the games in the arena but that's gonna block some more of the action for some.
Which is bad.
I can imagine it could make a difference in visual tracking or spotting, or something. I mean, why would you make a weapon sight a circle rather than a square? 🤷♂️ Weird thing for fans to whine about, though.
I like the design, but it seems unnecessary. Also, this phased rollout of it seems a bit much. You could switch them out overnight and most people probably wouldn't even notice.
Oh yes, this is fantastic. Something that in no way improves the game is being changed. And as a bonus, it will obstruct the view MORE for the fans paying their hard earned money to attend a game. I love it.
The new clock is set to revolutionize the NBA! With its groundbreaking design and advanced tech, it offers countless advantages. It’s not just a tech marvel, but a game-changer that ushers in a new era for basketball!
I'm seeing some good points about the old clock being more visible. As someone who doesn't follow this sport, though, my brain just went, "Yes. The clock is round. The ball is round. It's all coming together."
the cube shot clock was the best one because you can see the shot clock from every angle. also, it was easier to see without the transparent background.

Didn't know this was so important, to some people.

I remember seeing Meadowlark Lemon and Curly Neale with the Globetrotters in London.
I haven't a clue about the shape of the clock.
