I don’t understand. No resolution and all but “essential” staff go home. But as soon as they pass a resolution offices open again. How does that turn into a furlough? Schumer didn’t even ask for anything in exchange for his vote. Just gave away. WTF?

Sen. Schumer defended voting with the GOP to pass the government funding bill, saying a "shutdown had to be avoided."

"They could furlough employees forever and just have the federal government shrink to half its size en masse," he said. "That would have been the worst, worst, worst alternative."
