Thai mainstream view on the topic of lesbian is pretty narrow. Mostly all about Tom and Dee (it's something close to masc and femme but not quite) also mostly talk about cis while left out trans women and sometimes even use the words tomboy and trans men interchangably... quite a mess.
the focus on trans men as lesbians over trans women is something that happens here (australia,) too, though those attitudes are more common with older lesbians than younger
i did have a woman at a refuge i stayed at here ask me why i didn't become a drag queen, and i still haven't been sure how to interpret that (i think she assumed it must be some easy way of making money?)
Yeah I hate "every transfem is a drag queen." stereotype. It sucks on two levels.
1.) It deems that we are similiar or even the same as gay men (we are not gay is sexuality and transfem is gender).
2.) It delegitmized other kind of gender expression from transfems.
historically drag did have a lot of trans women (particularly in places with crossdressing laws) but these spaces were still (as far as i can tell) generally dominated by cis men
