They/we didn’t. The system of democracy meant that a small percent of voters ensured Tories remained in power despite the bulk of the country voting for progressive parties. And Starmer got fewer votes than Corbyn.

The left vote was split for years. Reform have split the right vote allowing a left leaning government.
