What a disgrace. This is absurd.

This morning’s stunning fact:

Next year Wembley Stadium will host more live music events than sporting events. And the live music events it will host are guaranteed to financially support grassroots football, but not guaranteed to support grassroots live music.

I saw Gaga at Twickenham and it was amazing but I can’t imagine many other acts meeting the moment of a stadium show.

Blur in Hyde Park was a big let down as the crowd was often louder than the PA, and I just felt disconnected from the show.

Many years ago I saw Foo Fighters at Wembley. Group of 6 of us on the pitch. I went into the stands to get drinks, on way back security blocked the way saying too many people on the pitch and wouldn’t let me through. Within minutes there were hundreds of us who just stormed the barriers. Ridiculous.

I have no issue with grassroots football being funded.

It’s the big corporations in music announcing tours without the government suggested voluntary levy that’s frustrating - to put it mildly!

Department of Culture Media and Sport has often treated the music element of their remit with disdain and it's baffling given the economic and diplomatic power of that element... yes frustrating! And not even sure who's fault that really is, whether collaboration or culture...

It’s far too broad a brief for a department in my opinion and good to see some of the digital media elements move over to tech department

Coldplay are doing multiple shows at Wembley and they have pledged to give a portion of the proceeds to grassroots music venues, I don’t know if anyone else playing there is but I know they are

The challenge is, it’s voluntary and a lot of big events don’t have the £1 levy
