Assuming we're not talking about the caption here, should we stop using special characters on field/object names?

From my experience, using special characters (and German umlauts) have always been risky, especially when other applications (like here: Excel, but also the SQL server) were involved. Gaps were closed one by one.

But the docs (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/dev-itpro/compliance/apptest-bestpracticesforalcode?WT.mc_id=MVP_382921#variable-and-field-naming) warn about wildcard symbols only:
