It is possible to point out National's broken promises without making tax seem like a bad thing - which just lets the landlords win whether or not National does. Hmmm. maybe that's Labour's 4-d chess move actually.

If you’re going to campaign based on something as black and white as taxes - if you say no new taxes and then do a new tax, you should get an automatic black mark, or demerit, or whatever. Something that’s considered by all to be the Kryptonite you don’t want with you going into the next cycle.
