First of all, this condemnation from TransActual and FGEN gives an overview of what we're looking at - yet another "gender critical" report commissioned by a transphobic government, uncritically taken up by the incoming Labour administration.

In there we see the gender critical framing that the report will be looking at two distinct things: "sex" and "gender identity".

But imposing a sharp distinction between "sex" and "gender" does not reflect normal use of language: it is, however, a key element of anti-trans thought.

As we will see, this results in lots of messy and tortured wrangling about the meaning of words later on.
