I love getting most of a track done, deciding I hate it. Then listening to it an hour later and saying its actually good. then in the morning, i hate it again. and back and forth all day.

yeah! i should probably just put some of them out there and see what people like. that'll probably be easier than trusting my awful brain to do it haha
You can always just share with your friends and elicit feedback (if you want that.)
The thing is, the listener can influence the artist into releasing something they're not completely satisfied with. Then you kind of cringe every time you hear it.
But you don't want to be stagnant! Ah crap
It's hard to do! With commissions, i'm usually a little quicker because there's reference tracks and visuals most of the time. and the dev usually has an idea of what they want.
One of my biggest creative weaknesses is the knee-jerk 'no, it's wrong' when I try a workaround for something.
I have to put it down and walk away, sometimes for a week, then come back and see it with fresh eyes as something that *has* to happen, or there is no project.
yeah i think i just need to put things on a shelf for a bit and come back to them after i've forgotten about it. that and i need to start getting more feedback from folks.
But when I'm too close to the thing, it doesn't feel like a solution, it feels like a personal failure for having to use a workaround in the first place, and I hate it so much.
Of course, in reality, the thing is fine, and everyone uses workarounds for shit. Brain no like it tho.
