I guess maybe a lot of people just feel the need to have something in their life to dig deep into and fight a war over, while being unaware of how pathetic it looks from the outside.

I must be living in a bubble because I fortunately haven't seen much of this behaviour recently. but I saw a video today from some developer, saying stuff that any rational, humane person would agree with.

then I looked at the comments (my mistake). it was overwhelmingly... "gamers". 6000+ of them

a lot of people have this weird pathology that game developers all have some grudge against their own playerbase and it’s usually precipitated around “they insulted us white male gamers.” or some other dumb shit. i feel like the brigades have gotten worse since SBI and the rise of asmongold

I'd say it's mostly insecure people complaining, they tie their entire identity to that thing and can't tolerate criticiscm, because what if their fav thing is actually bad?

It helps knowing it's often the vocal minority that complains, but yeah it's never fun to see hate for no reason
