Where do #deepsea #hydrothermalvent animals get their carbon from? Our paper uses natural-abundance radiocarbon (Δ14C) to reveal carbon sources for 12 species! Closer to vent orifice means more carbon (up to 74.8%) from vent fluid CO2 -- unless one uses methane.
