I oppose the pardon because I don't think Presidents should give pardons to people with a personal connection (they should delegate that decision), particularly when there are thousands of worthier candidates. But, I'm not going to pretend this matters 1 iota regarding Trump's future actions.

How can they delegate that decision? It's not like a judge. who can simply recuse. He should tell Harris, "I'm going to be sedated for a few hours and I hope you will consider Hunter's case, doing whatever you think is best"? It's not a good system!

The problem here isn’t what Trump will or won’t do. The problem is that “whataboutism” is part of how Trump convinces parts of his constituency that he is not such a bad guy, and this helps him there, even if it was the right thing to do.

Read my follow up post. I oppose Biden making the decision. He should have delegated the decision to someone else (like Obama did with the Clemency Initiative). I oppose the process, not the substance, of the pardon.
