The media reporting that DOGE is using some fancy AI algorithms to pick which employees to fire are too credulous. Musk and Trump are just firing probationary employees because they have the least legal protection.

Probationary employees are receiving termination notices today at the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). Notices have already started going out, per agency source.
