Tiktok biggest audience was a non-Chinese, non-Euro state.
The idea was to force the sale (failed) or censorship (success!!) of TikTok content in favor of US government enforced views.
With the sale, the US would have a global monopoly on information flow.

Plus a llllllllllot of Americans were making money on that platform.
I get it. 1/3 of my income is Spotify.
Taking that away would hurt me.
