for the record, having played Dragon Age Veilguard for about a week now, I'm really really enjoying it. It is not at all the Dragon Age game I would have made, it's not at all what I would have expected, but it's very good at what it is

I am saddened that people who desperately want these games are willing to accept minimal effort attempts . We keep giving them money, and they keep making worse versions of their games.
I am glad u can find it fun. I will never again give Bioware or EA my money.
As someone that tried to play Inquisition and Origins in the past but could never quite get into them I’m loving Veilguard. I’m a huge Mass Effect fan so seeing BioWare get it kind of closer to that type of gameplay really drew me in
Hard same. It's not what I wanted but it's a delight I didn't expect. My nitpicks are minor and Fandom-y, which is a great sign that it's throwing me back there.
I think the dialogue and story are the worst part, that being said, we've got to remember the history of what this game was supposed to be, a live service game. In that regard I think they've done well to salvage it.
I'm just enjoying it for what it is, do enjoy getting to know more about the lore in the series, it was a pretty big question mark until now. I'll probably properly finish it tomorrow so can gather some more thoughts then.
Same. If you go into not expecting Origins. And embracing the goofyness and queerness it's a joy. Nothing compared to BG3. But it doesn't have to be. Variation is good. And Veilguard is enjoyable for what it does right.
still, I had a conversation with Morrigan in this game where I was like, holy shit, this is the actual same character I remember from Origins, instead of the glorified MCU cameo of her appearance in Inquisition
Someone replied to this by saying they didn't want "gender politics" in their medieval worlds and like honey have you read anything, literally anything written in the medieval time. Because do I have a Decameron for you
I enjoy the game. Most the outrage was nonsense . Also seem like they never played a dragon age game before. I have about 40 hrs into taking my time trying to find everything
Beat it a couple days ago. As a long time dragon age fan I've missed the combat from the first one the whole time, but this was definitely a solid game.
I am less than 10 hrs into it, and it is rather slow. Starting to enjoy it -but definitely completely different tone or vibe than prior Dragon Age games.
Caveat is that I am playing this after completing BG3, and I think that in itself is ruining it for me. Anyways, think ill enjoy this regardless
It's just a fun game overall, but I think everyone would agree that three games worth of choices shouldn't be reduced to 3 questions about the last dlc that not that many played to begin with.
I'm about 20 hours in, for me it had a bit of a shaky start but I'm having a lot of fun! Although -- and this is just imo -- the dialogue and narration are the worst of the series by far.
Same! I am making my way through Veilguard after having played Inquisition (my only DA game). I am thoroughly enjoying this playthrough. This is making me want to start at the top with Origins.
The biggest mistake in this game is calling it The Veilguard instead of just Veilguard. I can't wait to finally get to play it but I am forcing myself to finally finish Inquisition first.
oh yeah it was clearly a very late decision. I know one version of the game was originally named that but I think, based on how this game is structured, it was an early one
I only dislike one thing: The inclusion of Morrigan. She was my romantic interest in Origins, exclusively. So having none of the previous games' decisions impact the game at all made it awkward.
I would also like to know where the Hero of Ferelden is. Did he/she succumb to the Calling?
I honestly do not get the “woke” argument surrounding the game. I just couldn’t get into it because I found the story much weaker than the other dragon age games.

But as someone who never played a previous Bioware game- I was a bit sad to see Origins didn't play like the Sacred Ashes trailer.
Jumping? What's that?
perhaps i had too high of an expectation on it
