The Texas State Board of Education has given its initial approval to integrate the Bible into curriculum that would be optional for public schools to adopt for lessons from kindergarten through fifth grade.
I don't care if it's "optional," it's unconstitutional.

Comments
Catholics do NOT want public schools teaching religion to their kids.
Guarantee
Went to Catholic schools, worked for a Catholic Diocese for 17 years.
I know they dont
I worked w/a woman who's kids went to public school.
Her daughter had a teacher that was an ex Catholic and was trashing the religion.
My coworker was pissed.
Catholics-child kidnappers and sexual abusers
Southern Baptists-child sex offenders
Evangelicals-12 year old "brides"
Which one?
Or even that teachers don’t have to buy their own school supplies..ridiculous hippos
It violates the VERY REASON this country was first settled.
Do they plan to force only the Christian version onto others?
What about the other religions as a whole? If you teach one, you need to teach all.
But this TX approval isn't designed to be that. Of course it "should be" unconstitutional AF, but times have changed.
All because they think it'll magically throw us back to an idealized parody of the 1950s straight out of "Leave It To Beaver".
I AM SICK OF IT!!! 🔥😡🔥
It violates the Establishment Clause and Free Exercise Clause of the First Amendment. It also goes against the ruling in Lemon v. Kurtzman.
Also MAGA: READ THE BIBLE
Texas Board of Education demonstrates here it has no respect for the constitution.
That is fine as long as they incorporate other religious texts into the curriculum.
Want to use the bible? Ok cool, include the Quran, include the Torah, include Hindu teachings.
Just so we're clear, that's every religion.
The Biblical morals are blind obedience or else, might makes right, women are property, and the promise of eternal life rationalizes any abuse or atrocity in this life.
Jk i know they’re just facists
Soooooo....we're now finally admitting that the Constitution is a document of convenience vs conviction, right?
