Fellow music youtubers - what is the most difficult or annoying part of the video making process for you? (not counting anything having to do with algorithms lol)

Getting all the different takes of my face into Final Cut and lining them up so they match the music (especially when I made a mistake somewhere in the middle of one and have to edit it out)
I am definitely the worst person on the planet with this, I usually record to metronome more often than track so I'm splicing the takes together constantly 😭
Granted I haven’t done anything recently but multi-upping frames for editing. I never found any usable templates that could just easily plug and play certain tracks into preset frame sizes
Yah, I used Vegas Pro and the templates only went to 4-up split screen, so I’d have to create them new each time, which caused the tracks to randomly be assigned to each segment. It was aggravating
Camera focus 😅 I’ve had vision issues and even if a test shot is in focus once I start singing and recording a whole take it’s often not quite right, and I can’t see the little screen to tell 😅
oh gosh I can't see the tiny screen at ALL either, especially with a 30-50mm lens...have you tried using an external TV/laptop to monitor? I can't film without one!
I swear looking like a normal person while playing is impossible for me so trying to get takes where I'm not grimacing/frowning/just looking spaced out takes a painfully long time
the struggle is real 😅 do you record and film simultaneously? I've found that I can't multitask that, and I also have to monitor my face the whole time while filming to make sure I look ok haha
Rewiring everything, adjusting gains on my monitors, setting the camera angle depending on which instrument I’m using for the video. Basically by the time I have everything ready, I hardly want to make the video anymore 😜
God forbid I make a mistake while playing after I’ve done all the setup. That’s usually enough at that point to make me step away and just nix the whole thing for a while
Everything before the editing is kind of a chore now, I'm happy to see the result when it's filmed, but the preparation, filming, and putting back everything after filming is a long and tiring process for me now haha
Putting together my plan for how I want to lay out split screen stuff
It's hard explain since I'm not at my PC, but my methodology is to place markers throughout the audio track and then lay out my plan in a text document like this before I even start importing video
ahhhh so ok actually I do this too (a different method) but it’s before I film so that I can be sure what angles i’ll actually need/use…I take a pdf of the full score into Forscore and just hand draw brackets and shapes for splits on the score for my reference
Of course I can't really do that with collabs (I'd rather just they send me full video for simplicity), but for my own parts I could definitely skip my "unnecessary" stuff - especially for auxiliary percussion parts that maybe have 3 splits shown at most
Yeah, I would often either be missing an alternate angle for something I needed later or just be taking way too many angles for safety - especially with the "unnecessary" stuff sometimes I just do close ups but for huge splits I like to see those in a wider angle or (cont...)
...or if I had a few accomp parts that would be cut to in a row, since I'm usually all on the same instrument it's not enough variety between the shots. It's SO much work but feels more efficient and better outcome for me!
I actually also did this for a collab once LOL when @rahulvanamali.com recorded a ton of parts for me, I did pre-storyboard so that I could tell him just one specific angle for whichever part so it would be less to do. Standard collabs I don't usually ask for so much though 😅

This process takes hours
