Yeah, it's really absurd. AI can't tell determine what is worthwhile or mission-critical. People who say that clearly demonstrate that they don't know how AI works or even have a basic understanding of computing.

Yes, it's something only an idiot would do.

But an AI LLM could certainly provide a score indicating whether it thinks something is mission-critical. So I would not be surprised if they did something like that.

I'm sure it could also provide a score indicating whether humanity is worthwhile.

I'm not entirely sure that they could successfully train it for what THEY think is worthwhile. And even if they could, I'm pretty sure that what THEY think is worthwhile is not something most people would agree with.
