Grrr..! This pisses me off!
I was a Chef at 2 private hospitals, 1 public hospital, 3 Aged Care Homes, cooked for Meals on Wheels & delivered MOW with red cross.
ALL OF THE ABOVE (except the private hospitals) requires bigger budgets!

My partner works in an aged care home (they are not “facilities”) where they have these chefs the food is lovely. Much improved. I agree all homes should have food of this standard

Facilities was not used by me as a form of any intended insult. It has a literal meaning of being a place for a particular purpose. But I hear you. And it's pleasing to hear the aged home in which your partner works is hitting the mark.

Let's not presume they're all bad. My mum just moved into a nursing home (not upmarket or anything) and each meal is prepared by a chef in the kitchen beside their dining room, for about 40 people total I'd guess. Always a roast for Sunday lunch. Very keen to have requests or to know preferences.

Yes, makes sense. I HOPE we have a good one - feels ok so far - but honestly the whole process was a nightmare and surely can be improved. We didn't really have a choice in the end, had to take what was available, especially to get an ensuite when many places have shared bathrooms.
