Working across four continents and eight countries, the project studies the colonial histories of botanical gardens, ethnographic collections, university campuses and intangible heritage. We ask how a critical heritage approach and a global approach can help to develop new curatorial practices.

Mette and I will lead a work package on Botanical Gardens, which fosters collaborations with the Herbarium in Suriname and with @m-azzolini.bsky.social of the University of Bologna.
We're particularly interested in asking how Botanical Gardens can function not only as educational sites for e.g. botany but also for (colonial) history.
The grant is meant largely to inspire new #collaborations and foster research across disciplines and geographical borders.
Also many of our @collecol.bsky.social members look into coloniality of university collections. Looking forward to learn more about the project in due course.
Many thanks to the the EU and SERI for offering us this wonderful opportunity!
