Oleksandr, call sign "Said," is a senior sergeant in the 88th Separate Marine Battalion. In June 2022, he lost his brother Serhii, who made the ultimate sacrifice on the Izyum-Sloviansk highway. This devastating loss fueled Said's determination to fight for Ukraine.

In the summer of 2023, he joined Ukraine's armed forces, fighting on the Donetsk and Kherson fronts, where he sustained severe injuries. Despite severe injuries and being deemed unfit for service, Said chose to stay with his battalion and continued to fight on one of the war's toughest fronts.

When asked what keeps him going in the face of adversity, Said points to his family's unwavering support, the Marine Corps's unbreakable spirit, and his comrades' brotherhood.

His greatest wish? For the war to end so, his six-year-old son and every child can grow up free from the horrors of war.
