Well it wouldn't do the pain management manufacturers' bottom line any good if they actually cured the disease instead of the symptoms

You must not be very informed on the current state of pain management in the US. Current laws restrict opioid use so much even cancer patients are having issues getting adequate pain medicine. Many folks are only given Tylenol after surgery now.

The end symptom of cancer is death. By refusing to cure cancer, you refuse to cure the symptoms as well.
