Interesting to see increase of nuclear. I hadn't realized any new nuclear plants had come online. Went to search and sure enough a new one went active in Georgia last year. Pretty cool. We could use more nuclear. It is a good bridge to more renewable sources.
Nuclear increase is mostly uprates, where an existing plant is permitted to operate at a higher power level. Vogtle 3/4 in GA are the only new reactors in the past 30 yrs.
(Also it's more than a bridge, it's a useful companion to renewables which limits the need for massive battery storage.)
It has also made a noticeable difference in the reliability of the grid in summer. And that took all of one year. The speed of change possible with solar & batteries is like nothing I’ve ever seen!
And pretty much the only thing the state did right was to make it easy to add new capacity.
