I read that only two Indigenous applicants in Victoria were successful in the soldier settlement scheme and that governments even allocated land off what were Aboriginal Reserves. These blokes fought alongside their mates and got nothing because of who they were and the colour of their skin.

Heartbreaking for the time and effort they put in. Those lost never to return and still, no respect for the lucky few.
Even worse come from those fighting during the Boer War.

It’s about time everyone acknowledged the truth about our history and confronted it. Truth telling is very important. Unfortunately that won’t happen because many people in this country still have a colonial mentality led and encouraged by certain individuals, politicians and political parties etc.

This is why truth-telling is so necessary & important for so-called Australia.Truth-telling must be followed by absolutely essential TRUTH-LISTENING & truth-accepting by non-Indigenous Australians, no matter how much discomfort they experience or how much guilt, shame & resistance they feel.

Yep and the land they received for their service was sometimes taken away from Indigenous people living there. Neville Buchanan told us how Aboriginal communities in Urunga were moved off their land so that the land could be given to returning soldiers.
