Hi CaptainLes! I just bought a boat in the south of France, near Marseille. Just back from 2 weeks on her, visiting the Calanques and the Old Port. Loved every minute of it, but didn't get much sailing done. Interested that you said the sailing was great, I was worried that there was never any wind!
Hi! So that was basically our trip - from Marseilles, eastward through the Calanques as far as Saint Cyr sur Mer and back. End of July departure, through 1st week of August. Temps averaged over 100 during the day but we had consistent 10 kts+ the whole time.
That's hot alright! I bought a Sadler Starlight 39. She's based in Port Napoleon, about 30 miles west of Marseille. Good news on the 10+ knots, that would be nice. It's a beautiful area.
That's a great cruising boat. You might want to invest in something like a furling Code Zero, if you don't already have one. Lots of flexibility in the sail plan once you add a big foresail that you can deploy easily.
