Clerics shouldn’t just feel like wizards in a different type of robe. I write about how to make clerical magic feel more divinely inspired

Your blog is my comfort reading.
The closest models in fiction seem like Poul Andersen's "Three Hearts and Three Lions" and Sterling Lanister's "Hiero's Journey." But they're more like D&D paladins.
I also think if you removed the OSE-style cleric’s weapon restrictions you wouldn’t really need a paladin/cleric class distinction
Different magic systems.. different progression arcs.. different strength/weaknesses.. and mechanics that reinforce theme.
the only upper bound on being able to cast divine spells is your ability to keep your patron happy
1 thing I would change, however, is that instead of the GM rolling for all the Clerics spells right there, you could just keep the list of prepped spells, note if they have advantage/disadvantage, then make the roll when they cast the spell.
Bonus: roll it in public for extra drama
I am working on a mess of ideas to put into my next campaign and somethings from this post will certainly end up in it.
Dig it. Thanks!
