SMRs are not the future. They are a concept from the 1950s which was dropped because it is too expensive per Wp, too dangerous in both proliferation AND accidents and it still does not solve the waste issue.

The only ones who could afford SMRs were some Navies to power their war ships.

What is the LCOE of an SMR compared to that same level of kWh generated from renewable + storage? What's the betting that it is way higher?

Without the IRA, it's about twice that of solar + battery. Given that construction cost estimates are heading upwards, that LCOE is likely to climb before the technology gets to market. Solar + battery, OTOH, is likely to drop as batteries and solar technology prices continue to fall...

So probably a realistic estimate will be 3x - 4x the LCOE of battery backed up renewable power by the time reactors begin to come online
