I'n constantly amazed at how few photons modern cameras need to get an ok shot. 1/6 of a second, f/2 at ISO 12800. Taken at 7:45 on a cloudy evening , when the sun had set 30 minutes earlier. I took a look, but at the end of the day the AI stuff is adding pixels and making stuff up, so it didn't sit comfortable with me. I appreciate that de-noising is almost doing the same - I found I was getting the results I wanted with DxO PR. Its a fine line between Topaz AI and just using Gen AI.

I think AI is a great tool and I do use Gen AI in the Adobe suite if I need to add some pixels around the edge of a frame, maybe after a pano merge that could do with some sky filling in, but don't use it for the main subject. It certainly can get some impressive results, just not for me right now.

Super! 😮 I know the feeling… Paradox of taking pictures of something you can’t see well but the camera can (excitement akin to developing films, I guess), and shocking details at ISO thousands, when film at ISO400 is described as ‘suitable for capturing high-detailed subjects indoors’!

Indeed. Lovely shot!
The pipeline of better sensors, better A/D, IBIS/lens stabilisation & then noise reduction in post make the impossible, possible. I switched systems a while ago & was just astounded at what's possible hand-held in very low light these days. Of course, having f/2 glass helps :-)
