One of my deepest nerd confessions is once I played the Aztecs to a science victory in Civ and this inspired me to write a 200k word draft of a sci-fi novel where the far future was Mesoamerican and also all the gods were giant robots (Quetzalcoatl was a bigass robot serpent for example)
Mesoamerican sci Fi is fertile ground I really loved A Memory Called Empire's Mesoamerican aesthetic influences (even though the author is a Byzantine scholar and that very much shows)
Spirits of my forefathers call me to Tengriism (Or at least Tengriist Buddhism).
The Sky was over my ancestor, the Sky is over me and the Sky will be over my children. What is this if not magnificent?
I actually visited Buryat Buddhist temples several times in Irkutsk Oblast/Buryat Republic. My family is from there. Though they converted to Christianity after migrating from Mongolia, so sadly we don't know their non-Russian names and family name.
