Why don't you mention Obama? He didn't react to the first invasion in 2014 (Crimea and Donbas), even though the US is the guarantor of Ukraine's territorial integrity under the Budapest Memorandum. The failure began with Obama.

You should correctly mention that Germany is NOT a guarantor in the Budapest Memorandum. Instead, you're confusing everything. The US and GB should have reacted in 2014. That was the beginning of further disasters, in which Germany is, of course, also involved.

Hard to say what would have happened if there was resistence in the early hours of the Crimean adventure.
Putin was cautious then.
Later it would have been difficult, as in late March Russia assembled sizable forces on 🇺🇦 borders.

At that time, the question arose as to how the Budapest Memorandum should be interpreted. And unfortunately, the legal interpretation at the time was not in Ukraine's favor. No intervention by the US and its allies. And less assist than in 2022.

The other three DID - weak though - aim for a rules based world order.
The later aims for "assets", own power and suppression of competitors/opponents.

What was also a know know in 2014 and beyond was that Kremlins narrative about Крым наш, socalled civil war etc. was very successful and sogn became mainstream in Western media.

As did the denial about the Ukrainian nation as something very distinct from Russia.
