Interesting paradox here of publishing the work in a Wiley owned journal. The balance and trade-offs and vulnerabilities highlighted in the paper playing out in where it is published!

Good point! this is all the paradox of the publishing system we are dealing with. We still need our work to reach its "public" and to be accecible to the largest audience possible, particularly for ERCs ! ... which was the point in choosing Ecology Letters ...

Great article to address the issue 🙌 maybe I missed it, bit is there a list for ECR to look up good and bad journals? It would probably be helpful to provide some sort of list, as I’ve encountered many ECR that struggle to differentiate.
