It's my understanding that de minimis still applies to shipments from Canada, so anyone who orders less than $800 at a go should be OK.

Exactly this!! Things are changing so much that people are confused and spreading misinformation. The de minimus still applies to shipments from Canada. So as long as it's under 800$. They're fine.

If I were the US-based warehousing/logistics industry I would be piiiiiiissed, bc the government is setting up an incentive to order direct from producer to consumer instead of from a stateside retailer who would import more at a time.

I am for geographical shortening of supply chains, but this method is not fit for purpose.

For one thing, it's a rare piece of industrial equipment that costs less than $800 even if you do order direct, so the tariffs would make it more expensive to build up our manufacturing capacity.

That's the issue, they do see it. They know. He's stupid & might not have known initially, but I fully believe prez baby hands knows now. The gov just doesnt care. If anything, it's intentional. The more chaos, the easier for the 1% to take control. Crash the economy=national emergency=martial law

The de minimus exemptions still apply to Canada. Basically it's a rule that allows goods valued below 800$ USD to enter the US duty-free. You won't be charged custom fees.
