Journalists should absolutely be paid for their important work. I subscribe to several papers. I also miss a time when you’d find yesterday’s paper at the coffee shop. A time when you could stay informed even if you couldn’t subscribe. 📰

About 15 years ago I remember worrying about our future because I noticed that trash reporting was subsidized by trash people—and so much good reporting needed to be behind a paywall to be sustainable.
