Watched. Joseph Cotten’s best role? He’s sooo sinister. I love Henry Travers and Hume Cronyn planning murders. But my favorite character is the waitress in the bar.

The perfect Hitchcock film. His best, IMHO. Doesn’t get the respect it deserves because it’s so subtle. Pure evil secretly invades a gentle, happy family. Patricia Collinge is perfect and perfectly oblivious. Teresa Wright’s Charlie’s slow realization couldn’t be more impressive. And in the end,
Cotton tries to murder the good Charlie, the niece named after him, the Charlie full of all the goodness he despises. A wonderful Jekyll Hyde moment. Too subtle for those in love with Vertigo and Rear Window. Watch it again for the small, horrifying moments.
