It’s been in progress for quite a while, looks like the idea started 8 years ago when the last grocery store on the south side was maybe going to close (currently still open, although def a low-priority store for the company) https://isthmus.com/news/news/park-street-grocery-store-signs-lease-with-city-of-madison/

That’s excellent! And I bet they have better produce than the for-profit grocery stores in underserved areas. The hyper local variations in produce quality are so noticeable here.
