We were interested in understanding how global acetylation patterns may change during stress because we found an enrichment for stress defense proteins among global acetylation targets. We also found that perturbing global acetylation resulted in heat stress sensitivity.

So, we looked at acetylome remodeling during a heat shock time course and found hundreds of acetyl marks that change in relative abundance, even when controlling for changes in protein abundance. And indeed, there was a strong enrichment for proteins induced and repressed by stress being remodeled.

There's lots of interesting stuff in there, from the timing of peak changes (coinciding with peak protein changes, suggesting that acetylation changes may fine-tune function for translated proteins), to possible effects of chaperone function, to how this may be regulated.
