It’s only compensation for the lack of notice/ maladministration by DWP. Not back payment of the lost pensions. WASPI have never asked for the pensions to be back dated.

There is a separate campaign ‘back to 60’ which is not connected to WASPI. As a WASPI woman I fully understand the need for equality of pensions. It’s the proven maladministration that annoys me.

At the beginning of their campaign Waspi wanted a bridging pension for 1950s women equivalent to the value of the pension they would have received from age 60, while leaving the SPA at 65 in place for younger women. So backdating under another name.

No, there is no question of paying back pay. Any compensation will be based on the limited scope of the Parliamentary Ombudsman's report and even that is not assured.

Having to work an extra 6 years longer than promised and losing £40k - I can tell you, I feel I've been "disadvantaged "! As well as having been paid less in the past than male colleagues for the same or more difficult work.

That you had to work until 65/66, as I did, is not something the Parliamentary Ombudsman was able to consider by his statutory terms of reference. The issue (and any possible disadvantage) concerns a delay of 28 months in sending personal letters. There was no promise.

Expectation needs to be managed, I know people who think that they will get £50k whereas they are unlikely to get more than £1k. The report never said that it was wrong to raise our pension age just that it was badly communicated.

Students who had grants at Higher Education have these years omitted for pension purposes, unless they paid NI contributions. Many have reduced pensions thinking they were fully paid up. They were not told. This should be put right.
