Joining a union won’t solve the UK’s economic inequalities. Increasing the minimum wage in line with countries like Norway is where the unions can help. But the Gov also needs to expand social welfare programs and fix our flawed tax system.

Corporate greed also needs addressing!

The TUC has always sided with the establishment. For example, the 1984 miners strike and the acceptance of the 1981 Employment Act that destroyed union democracy. Should have been a general strike!

Joining a union was the best thing I did. Unison quite literally saved me when management ignored my disability status and tried to get me out because ‘they didn’t need part time workers’.

I always find it strange that people think trade unions are bad - and somehow, businesses and businessmen are benevolent. Literally, every working condition you have and take for granted has been fought for by trade unions. Holidays, holiday pay, sick pay, minimum wage, minimum working age etc etc

My dad was a member of the T&G. They were good to him, got him legal representation when he got into trouble, when he passed away they gave my mum £1000 towards funeral costs and sent a wreath. I've never been in a union since college (NUS) but I will happily join one after the help they gave Dad
