It’s not isolationist, it’s much worse than that. Trump isn’t retreating from the world like the US did in the 1920’s, he is lining up with Russia to overturn the rules based order that the US itself set up, and has been the main beneficiary of.

When I heard Major's interview, my first thought was how cogent and persuasive his arguments were.

My second thought was how quiet Tony Blair has been these last few weeks. Usually he's very happy to expound on global issues. Perhaps all that international consultancy work gets in the way?

A liberal, progressive democracy is not a stable system. It takes active measures to hold it in place. We look to politicians for that… they continue to fail
