No - many schools that were going to take part have had to pull out because the govt is only funding it at 60p per pupil that won't even cover staffing costs

Whilst I like this, Unfortunately the problem is much bigger now and cornflakes is not going to cut it. Poverty is so rife it needs a radical approach and not just sit around & wait until we get growth.

just hope the ones getting this are deprived kids who’s parents genuinely need the help.

We USE TO have friends of great means that that took advantage of programs and assistance like this that was planned for people that truly needed it.

A major cause of poverty is the high cost of housing. Things like breakfast clubs and food banks provide a minor relief, while the very rich and super rich continue to carve up any economic growth and decent housing remains a relm of the better off. Starmer refuses to make any real change.

That and treating the hunger problem. Kids going to school too hungry to concentrate. It's appalling and I'm so glad that some schools have opened this provision.

It would be great if it was just available for all children who need it.

Agreed it shouldn't be needed, as are food banks, it's a plaster & it's for kids.

Untill inequality is death with, a wealth tax, rent caps & trying to stop people hoarding rotten properties. Charging people half their income to stay in squaller instead of eating. Many issues the plaster is welcome.

But this way, the parents work a longer day, the kids are at school longer but fed a morsel, school staff have extra responsibility (who pays them?) and the rich get to keep their money! Everybody wins! 👀🙄

At 60p per pupil, a sum that won't even cover the staff needed - many schools who were going to be involved have pulled out because they'll have to find the shortfall to fund it. As usual with LINO the headline sounds fine but the devil is in the details - all smoke and mirrors
