Social benefits payments *HELP* the economy, because it's money that goes straight back INTO the economy. Welfare recipients aren't SMAUG, FFS.
That's not a comment on leadership, but both the PLP and the membership were more united behind Miliband's policies than the policies of the two who came after him.
Starmer has objectively done a better job by winning a winnable election while Miliband lost one. But your comment was stronger grip on the Labour Party; Miliband was either tolerable to or liked by all factions.
replacing benefits ( plus enhancement 4 disability) should be considered in this difficult
period. Administered under 1 hat, amalgamating HMRC,DWP, no loss of civil service jobs, all resources piled into 1 place but diluting unnecessary, expensive levels of bureaucracy.
End Austerity.
McSweeney’s Labour Party is generally morally weak and intellectually lazy (at best… I can think of other failings).
Explain to me how this policy fits what Labour supposedly stands for. I don’t know anybody who’s in receipt of PIP, but it’s there for a reason.
Wrong people to hit unfairly.
In all other respects it is absolutely pernicious, leading us rapidly to fascism by undermining all hope in democracy.
Same for Streeting. Make way for someone who believes in well funded public provision of health services and not privatisation.
