Would not ICE officers have to petition the court officers with official warrants for their request to detain the individual, be valid? To do it without petition be akin to Contempt of court? Or is that process more about a polite respectfulness.

There are protocols for making arrests in a courthouse. Usually coordinated between police & baliffs/deputies. My guess is ICE barged in without observing them.
