I think that's why they lost to Trump. If Bernie and AOC were to start a progressive party movement, I'd join in a minute... AFTER Trump is gone because the Dems are the only hope of making that happen through a majority in House & Senate.

I wasn't clear; would vote for either in a NY minute! Voted Democrat up and down in 2020 and 2014. Just saying that now is not the time to promote another party or different system; get a majority in 2016/2018 & then have those discussions. Mentioned AOC because I feel she gets sidelined by Dems...
Kamala was surging until she pivoted "center". People want to pretend it was trans rights and DEI. How much did you hear about either of those from Kamala or her campaign? That was all trump and the media controlling the narrative.
I don't think a new party is the way. I think taking over the Dems similar to what MAGA has done to the Republicans is the better option. I principle the party needs to die. in reality it's just a vehicle that's probably needed. I fully believe the DNC handed trump both victories, through failure.
Interesting point. An article about Canada's multi-party was shared here this week, and it resonated for me. No system is perfect, of course. I do worry that having only 2 parties promotes ultimately pushing each to the extreme, and it seems there should be something less... crazy?
I don't like my proposed path. I just know that most attempts to create a 3rd party at best has gotten some of their ideas co-opted by one of the parties before they fade into nothing or they have tiny followings that just siphon off votes, sometimes leading to the worse option winning.
The Dems are not extreme at all. I have a hard time even calling the leadership of the party liberal, much less progressive. When something goes wrong with the messaging of leaning too far right they blame it on liberal ideals.
All true. What do you think about focusing efforts on the 2 big items: overturn Citizens United and amend the Constitution to eliminate the Electoral Collage. Someone else commented about that on this thread... maybe that's something Dems could get behind?

Overturning CU is the best thing that could happen!
Abolishing the EC requires a Constitutional amendment, which is risky. An interesting alternative is the Nat'l Popular Vote Interstate Compact. The is already some interest, but it looks complicated to me. https://foley.wsu.edu/research/afi-electoral-college/
