Yeah, I feel like I can’t quite get the balance right at the minute. I seem to be really cautious and gradually build up to 4/5 and then just start burning them all recklessly.

I definitely appreciate the changes to allow 5 FTs, as I think it has *mostly* rewarded my typically patient approach to FPL. I'm generally pretty bad at making transfers, and those I have made this season have bordered between catastrohoic and mediocre, at best

I disagree with this. Five adds so much strategy to the game. Think it's great for those of us who like to think about the game deeply.

Very much agree with Hedgehog's one wildcard suggestion as well.

Weird getting used to it this season, I'm on the other end where I think I've sometimes been too aggressive. Do think outcome bias might be influencing me though because the short term moves I've made haven't come to much. Fun learning more and more each week!

I'm trying to wonder why 5, why not three or four? |Just feels too arbitrary a number for it not too have some significance, as others have said, maybe just one WC is coming, 5 ft's is almost wc territory.

It’s made the game a lot more challenging and fun. A constant struggle between patience and greed. I do think FTs saved will pay very handsomely from 29+, regardless of chips used and strategy

Without going onto my "value FTs carry positions directly" hill, I think the meta has been too slow to adjust to the new implications of 5FT (and been too greedy as a result)

Agree - I’ve certainly been too greedy on the whole so far.

My rule of thumb has been that, if rolling more than 3, I must love the team.

Having 3 FTs is good. That’s your former mini WC without the -4.

Cures plenty of ills when sh*t happens or tough to reach opportunities arise.

Yeah I definitely think the costs are not symmetrical. Some lenses that I have developed over the season that have been helpful:

1) Probability of taking a hit later in the season should feed into your FT value now. (FT saved is hit avoided)

2) FTs as a stock with expiry date
We can pretty much use FTs whenever we want, just need to think about burning. E.g. I have 12FTs in hand by GW28, if I want to carry 4 into 29 I have 8 to play with 20-28 (i.e. avg of 0.9/GW)

This also was why I went Gordon/Isak in 16, *needing* to use 2 by GW20

3) Thinking of FTs used always relative to the one you get each GW. Using 1FT moves your position by 0, so rolling is +1 etc. You can start to see the rhythm of the season when you look at FT flow:

In general I think FT changews have made it a LOT LOT LOT LOT LOT LOT LOT easier to have a stonking team, the way teams decay is when we are forced to use FTs before getting the info we want - or if we just make shit decisions 😆 - and we are much less forced into those situations

I like it. Think I've only got up to 3FTs once, but theoretically 5FTs allows you to set the team up to 'attack the block' too... that's what I'm aiming to do from now to 24, and then 24-29/30.
