Y Combinator thought this was worth congratulating on its launch: an AI startup for factory lines, so bosses can berate workers who aren't moving fast enough

these guys say they've spent their entire lives, including their childhoods, in factories their parents run. they're both Duke University students. and this is what they took away from all of that experience: bosses need more efficient ways to yell at workers
I briefly read up on "management science" in the 2010s and as I recall, every study found that productivity on factory floors rose when supervisors were less aggressive and did less micromanaging. This has been the case for decades of research, but the lesson never seemed to be learned.
talking to workers like they are human beings without threatening them seems like it could be a cost-efficient way to find inefficiencies in any workplace. this approach, apparently, does not have product market fit
I've spent my entire life building software in one form or another, and fell in love with both the technology and the countercultural ideals of the earlier era of tech.
It never ceases to amaze and sadden me, how far we've strayed from those ideals.
They're typical Indian diaspora oppressor caste boys reared on caste/class/patriarchal privilege. Ethics in this society is entirely = self-interest & kiss-up-kick-down. there's a reason you see Indian bros adjacent to white males in the US

"We place cameras in manufacturing lines and use computer vision to count the number of pieces each worker makes in real-time."
The owners and supervisors get metrics; the workers get what? "Held accountable."
“Know any manufacturing company owners?
Let us know at founders@…,and we’ll help them drop their cortisol levels :)”
Boss stress matters
Workers stress, not so much.
What moral and ethical classes do CS student have to take. Seems like that’s a giant black hole.
I wish nothing but ill will towards its creators.
Just sick, scum of the earth shit right here.
The smugness of how the Caste-boys promoted this is tone def... and unsurprising. Duke should be ashamed for these clowns.
Commonality: YC and the Caste-boys want to surveil, control and reduce you to less than human.
It never ceases to amaze and sadden me, how far we've strayed from those ideals.
