I doubt the next game will be "dead on arrival" without it, but lack of crossplay does make basically every version of a game except for the "preferred one" (usually Nintendo) functionally single player only. >>
They REALLY need to fix this.

Dead on arrival was hyperbole mainly, but almost every platform outside of the switch has no playerbase and makes any other version of the game lacking to a casual market

I enjoy Puyo games if it's fun to play either by yourself or with other people

but man, they really need to get out of their comfort zone and start implementing crossplay, it isn't fun when you can't play online because you can't afford the platform most players prefer
