Counter-hot-take: nobody really knows why games sell at all.
One moment we think we figured it out and the other something like Flappy Bird comes out.
Then we think we got it again, and Among Us starts selling 1.5 years after the release.
Then we think AAA got it and they release Concord.

Everyone trying to work out why video games aren’t selling anymore — “Too many games? Prices are too low? Marketing is hard?” — when the answer this time around is actually simple:
The world got *fucked* and no-one has any money
People are struggling to pay bills and rent, let alone buy your game

It perpetually frustrates people who prefer a world view where creativity and craft isn't important.
That’s why we always test shitton of stuff, because users have the final say.
But also you'd have to be short-sighted not to take into your estimates that 15k games come out year after year on Steam alone. Someone has made us believe that AAA games will sell no matter what, which is not true.
I will rush for investors and my new title will be a ground breaking hit for six years!
[that's not to say you shouldn't read about how Steam works, but that deterministic language is a lie]
how to get it? nobody knows and those who say they do are straight up lying or fooling themselves
