1) There is no guarantee of life on other planets; the size of the universe does not make a case because without knowing the likelihood of abiogenesis this number is an empty denominator with no numerator and means nothing

If anything, we know that in our sample size of 1 (Earth), it looks like life emerged exactly one time over billions of years--as evidenced by all life on earth sharing common ancestry
2) I promise you this though, there are NO HUMANS on other planets, no humanoids, no star trek aliens, nothing that will ever understand you or vice-versa better than you can understand and communicate with an invertebrate
3) People cling to the certainty that there is life on other planets for the same reason they believe in alternate timelines, multiverses, and all that other stuff of which we have no proof
For the same reason that immediately after Brexit, some people who voted for it wanted a do-over, and could not believe that the decision was binding and irreversible
Because 4) people can't cope with the idea that we could be it and this could be it, and we don't get to hit reset and try again, and the damage of climate change is irreversible. Species extinction and genocide and generational trauma are not reversible. Actions have consequences.
